The Great Relocation Hoax Revealed!

W
as it another government-commissioned study to waste taxpayer dollars? Perhaps. But the findings of a staff report to the Federal Trade Commission actually revealed The Great Relocation Hoax.

This report found that:

80% of home buyers stated that their agent played a major role in negotiations with the seller.

Of buyers working with a selling subagent, 71% felt “their” agent actually represented them.

Of buyers working with the listing agent, 31% felt “their” agent represented them.

Overall, 57% of the buyers believed that “their” agent represented them.

73% of the buyers claimed they told “their” agent the maximum price they could afford.

82% thought whatever they told “their” agent was confidential.

74 % of the sellers thought that the selling subagent was representing the buyer.

M
ost home buyers still don’t realize “their” agents don’t exclusively represent and protect them.  So what is The Great Relocation Hoax?

The Great Relocation Hoax is the perpetuation of the false belief that the traditional real estate agent or broker working with you, the buyer, is automatically looking out for your best interests, working with you and for you to find the best home, at the best price, and on the best terms, and is not revealing your confidential information to anyone on the seller’s side of your transaction!
